[Short Review] A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole

Author: Tillie Cole

Genre: YA fiction, YA romance, contemporary romance

Brief Overview:

The story follows Rune Kristiansen, a boy from Norway, and Poppy Litchfield, a girl from Georgia, who become best friends and then fall deeply in love at a young age. Their relationship starts when they are five years old and continues to grow over the years. Poppy’s grandmother gives her a jar filled with paper hearts, instructing her to write down memorable kisses on each heart, aiming to collect a thousand boy kisses.

However, when Rune has to move back to Norway with his family, their love is tested by distance. Despite promising to stay in touch, circumstances lead to a heartbreaking silence between them. When Rune returns to Georgia two years later, he finds that Poppy has a secret that changes everything.

My Thoughts:

The novel is filled with tender and heartfelt moments that emphasize the beauty and pain of young love.

At first, I thought this book was only about young love, kisses and cheesy conversations. But it turned out that it is also about hope, faith, forgiveness, and loving life no matter what life throws at you.

I never expected that this book would make me cry, like I had to stop reading and sob, close the book and read after some time. The book made me think about the importance of living life to the fullest and appreciating the moments we have with our loved ones.
